ToneZone It's like Conquering Dystopia (supergroup including Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow) on crack. It's awesome on every way.

yourmetalfriend Michael Ball is awesome. I've followed his Youtube videos over the years and always wondered why his videos weren't going viral. All of his releases have been super clean and complex. Passage is such as excellent display of Michael's ability and a force to be reckoned within the instrumental prog world. I can't say enough about how much I love this album. Favorite track: Experiential.

[tESs] An outstanding ovation for this gentleman. Michael Ball delivers the goods on this debut. The guitar tones alone are absolutely gorgeous. Coupled with solid backing arrangements, this LP is worth a listen from top to bottom and with undivided attention. Favorite track: Tending Toward Catharsis.

about

Run time: 58 min, 20 sec.

Tegmentum is currently a one man project by myself. My hope is to affect a change in my musical life, namely by attracting other musicians to collaborate with me by way of this album & other efforts. For now, I make music simply for the joy of it. This record represents an effort that spans for several years (6 to be exact).

I make the music that I do because I feel a profound sense of urgency to do so. I honestly feel that it is my sole purpose in life to produce music. At the end of the day my art is what I live for. It is my pleasure to be able to share it for those of you who would listen. If you've gotten this far in the description, you have my respect & my profound gratitude.

There have been a lot of factors that have played into making this record. I have often read on forums & comment sections about the potential instrumental music has to convey what can't be said vocally. It's been said that instrumentation can be lyrical in a way that can spin narratives. I have always agreed with this notion. I have eagerly sought instrumental music for this very reason, and yet it seems that I haven't really found anyone who has genuinely tried. This album is my effort to do what I've heard people talk about. The intention of this record is to tell a story.

Musically I've drawn upon my experience from listening to metal & the many changes it's gone through over the past decade & more. You may notice myriad styles melded on this record. Be assured that it is intentional. I strive to be as versatile of a player as I can be. To my mind, all of metal music is relative, and all the sub-genres that exist stem from each other.

Personally speaking, the narrative I've written reflects a very hard time in my life. It was a time of transition, hardship, recovery & ultimately of change. It can be thought of as a timeline, if you will. I've held on to this life experience throughout my writing this record. I'd like to think that my finally publishing it after all these years will be it's own form of release. Without completely coloring your perception of this album's intent, I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

You have my profound thanks for taking time to find this record. It's been the support of listeners that have made me see this effort through to the end. To all of those people & to all of you who are reading this now: THANK YOU.
